190 Overgrown Plots, 19 Gets Court Summons
If reports from Council’s 24/7 Call Centre are anything to go by, Manzini News can state that overgrowth on vacant plots is one of the thorny issues that confront the City of Manzini. The good thing is that the Municipal Council of Manzini has sprung to action and conducted a citywide survey in a bid to understand the extent of the challenge. A total of 190 vacant plots were found to be overgrown. These are at Ntunja township, Fairview South, Fairview North, Sikhunyana, Extension 7, Coates Valley, Extension 5, Helemisi, Extension 19, Sterkstroom, Ngwane Park Township and Ngwane Park Extension.
Out of the total figure, 127 plot owners have been served with notices directing them to clear the overgrowth, 41 have complied whilst 19 have been served with court summons, as per the Public Health Act. The Municipal Council of Manzini urges owners of vacant plots to see to it that they properly maintain their properties, ensuring zero overgrowth.
